Law enforcement officers retrieved multiple guns from Montavious Johnson.
A Ridgeland man was sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison last Friday for being a convicted felon in possession of multiple firearms, including a 100-round drum magazine.

Montavious Johnson, 25, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate to 94 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

After being arrested for the sale of heroin on Sept. 11, 2018, a task force consisting of local law enforcement agencies, the DEA and ATF, executed a search warrant at a Jackson apartment complex where Johnson was staying at the time.

“Numerous firearms were recovered, including two AR-15 semiautomatic rifles and four pistols,” a release from U.S. Attorney for the Southern District Mike Hurst stated. “Johnson also had a 100-round high-capacity magazine loaded in one of the AR-15s.”

Johnson was wearing an ankle monitor from a previous conviction at the time of his arrest, having been convicted of multiple felonies in Madison and Hinds Counties.

He pleaded guilty on April 26 to possession of the firearms.
