Whitney Warner Gladden of Madison has been selected to represent the title of Mrs. Madison County 2017 in the upcoming Mrs. Mississippi America Pageant.

Whitney is married to David Lee Gladden Jr. and they are the parents of two children, Tucker and Macy, who both attend Madison Ridgeland Academy.
  •  This year’s annual “Spring Social” benefits the Mississippi Girlchoir (MGC) and offers something for everyone.  Featuring a delicious brunch, a father-daughter fashion show and musical entertainment by the Mississippi Girlchoir, this event will be one not to miss!  The “Spring Social” is at center court of Highland Village on Saturday, April 8 from 10 AM – Noon.  Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased on line at Msgirlchoir.org or by calling 601/667-9226. 
  • Ridgeland Recreation & Parks is offering a Line Dancing Class every Monday evening.   Advanced Line Dancing Class will meet at 5:00 p.m. – 5:55 p.m.  Beginners Line Dancing will begin at 6:00-7:00 p.m.  Classes will be held at the Ridgeland Recreational Center located at Old Trace Park.   Darlene Epple is the instructor for the class. Cost of the class is $10/class or $40/month.

  • Holmes shines at SkillsUSA Mississippi State Championship
    The SkillsUSA chapters from all three Holmes Community College campuses successfully competed in the annual competition hosted by the Mississippi Department of Education at the Jackson Convention Center Feb. 28-March 1. The first place winners will be traveling to the national competition in Louisville, Kentucky, June 19-23.
  • Williams celebrates birthday in Canton
    Lessie Sims Williams was the Choir Director at Rogers High School from 1967 until 1972.  After leaving Mississippi, she moved to Portland, Oregon where she taught music in the schools a performed with the Portland Symphony and became Minister of Music for several churches in Portland.

  • HORNE LLP, one of the top 50 accounting and business advisory firms in the nation, recently welcomed Nick Olander and Rachel Agnew of Madison, Mississippi as spring accounting interns. A total of 29 accounting students were selected for the highly competitive internship program.
  • Cockrell appointed to LecNet Systems Engineer at TEC
    TEC is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Cockrell as Senior Systems Engineer at LecNet, Inc. located in Jackson, MS.  In this role, Cockrell will provide support for the provisioning and maintenance of broadband communication services and systems.

    Cockrell brings with him several years of experience in the technology industry, which will be a great benefit to TEC.  

    Cockrell currently resides in Madison, MS with his wife, Stacy and children, Morgan, Austin, Matthew and Wesley.


  • FORK UNION, VA –Fork Union Military Academy announces that Cadet Oliver Carl Nicholas Long earned Academic Honors for the 3rd grading term, being awarded Academic Citation for completing his coursework this grading term with at least a 3.0 grade point average.  

    Cadet Long, an eighth grader, is the son of Steve Long and Christina Treppendahl of Madison, Mississippi. He has attended Fork Union Military Academy since August 2016 when he enrolled as an eighth grader.
