Bethany Stockett Boone
Bethany Stockett Boone, 76, died peacefully at home on April 14, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; son, Chris (Beth); daughter, Beth Brown (Steve), all of Madison; grandchildren Carley Boone Corbin (Seth) of Birmingham, Bailey Boone, and Ian Brown of Madison, and Ben Brown of Colorado Springs; brothers Richard Stockett, Jr (Carol) and Marvin Stockett (Pat), and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. The daughter of Richard C. Stockett, Sr. and Beth Enochs Stockett, Bethany grew up in the Belhaven area of Jackson. She attended the Jackson Public Schools and was a member of the first graduating class of Murrah High School in 1958.
James Leroy Branch
James Leroy Branch, 93, died Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church of Ridgeland on April 15, 2017. Burial followed in Jessamine Cemetery. A native of Attala County, Mr. Branch had lived in Ridgeland since 1968.
Shirley J. Peeples
Shirley Rose Johnson Peeples, age 81, of Madison, passed away on April 8, 2017. Shirley was born in Mize, MS on 10-20-1935, to Grover Johnson and Myrtis Sullivan Johnson.
She graduated in 1953 from Mize High School, attended Draughon's Business College. She married Dunlap Peeples, Jr in 1994. She retired from Bellsouth on December 31, 1994 with over 35 years of service.
Dr. Robert Shaye
Dr. Robert Shaye, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away April 12, 2017. Dr. Shaye was born on November 9, 1937 in New Haven, Connecticut. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Connecticut and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from New York University.
Following his graduation from dental school, he served in the United States Army on active duty with the 86th Medical Detachment in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, as well as the United States Army Hospital at West Point.
Elliott Frank Thomas, Sr.
Elliott Frank Thomas, Sr., of Madison, passed away April 10 at the age of 87. Elliott was born on October 13, 1929 to Frank and Lucille Thomas.
He attended Chamberlain Hunt Academy. He served in the Korean War. On April 25, 1954 he married Betty Jo Simon and they were married for 62 happy years.
During his early years he was a traveling salesman for Frank R. Thomas Co. Inc. and he later was President of the company until his retirement. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Madison. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and also the Alhambra.
Sidney Summerlin , age 80,of Madison, died on April 8, 2017 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial. He was born on July 19, 1936 to EC Summerlin and Pearl Lishman Summerlin in Kosciusko, MS.
Sidney is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margie Summerlin; sons, Sid Summerlin (Leigh Ann), Anthony Keith Summerlin and Jason Summerlin; grandchildren, Ashley Marie Summerlin, Bryce Jacob Summerlin, Justin Ross Summerlin and Sybil Rachel Summerlin; twin sister, Sylvia (James) Jenkins and many nieces and nephews.
Avenelle Harrington Allison
Avenelle Harrington Allison, of Madison, died Saturday April 1, 2017 at St. Catherine's Village, Madison.
A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, April 11, at St. Richard's Catholic Church followed by burial at Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Avenelle was born in Paulding, MS to Annie Rooney and Ambrose Harrington.
She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson where she taught Sunday school, served on various committees, and was honored with the Women's Ministry Lifetime Membership award. She was educated in Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1949. She attended Mississippi State College for Women (now MUW) and went on to graduate from Millsaps College where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
Dorothy R. Dunn
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ralph E. Dunn. Survivors include: daughter, Ginna McGowan and her husband David of Brandon, MS; son, Mark Dunn of Pearl, MS; daughter Kristy Dunn Hallman (Wesley) of Greenwell Springs, LA; granddaughters, Cheryl McInnis (Winn) of Oxford, MS; Kimberly Walker of Brandon, MS, Angela Montgomery (Joey) of Fairhope, AL, Tiffany Sikes (Keith) of Orlando, FL; Tina Hedgepeth (Joey) of Florence, MS. Great grandchildren: Alden, Brennan, and Taylor McInnis, Jacquelyn and Guyton Walker, Reese, Madison, and Gabriel Sikes; J.W. and Anna Hedgepeth.
Leon David Howell
Leon David Howell, 79 of Ridgeland, MS died on Thursday morning March 30, 2017. David was born in Carthage, MS July 25,1937. Funeral services were held on April 3rd at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
