  • Kathy Lynn Hill, 64, of Canton, died at her home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Breeland Funeral Home followed by burial in the Canton Cemetery. 
  • James Wright Snowden, Jr., 92, of Madison, died on May 12, 2017.  Mr. Snowden was born on May 27, 1924 in Marion, AL, to James Wright and Sudie Sanders Snowden. He graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA, in 1942.

    He began college at the University of Alabama until he was drafted in 1943 and sent to the V-12 program at Georgia Tech. He served in the US Navy for 2 1/2 years. Upon discharge he returned to the University of Alabama where he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering in 1949.
  • William (Bill) Sturdivant, of Ridgeland, was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to John Wiley and Janie Pritchet Sturdivant on January 17, 1922. He grew up in Mobile, Alabama, where he attended Murphy High School.

    He worked in the shipyard in Mobile until Pearl Harbor was attacked and then he joined the Navy where he served in the Sea Bees on Guam during WWII.
  • Rankin Revel Rawlings, Jr., of Ridgeland, always called by his nickname, Jake; died at home, Thursday, May 11, 2017. Jake was born on March 14, 1996 in Flowood, MS.

    He attended Ridgeland High School, Jackson Academy, and graduated from The Education Center School where he received the WINGS Award. He is survived by his devoted parents, Revel and Elizabeth Rawlings and his brother, Swayze Rawlings.
  • Margaret Earle Thatch Faubion, 92, of Ridgeland went to be with the Lord on May 9th, 2017.

    Margaret was born in Jackson, MS, to the late George Humpreys and Ida Norton Thatch on November 20, 1924. She attended Jackson Central High School and Belhaven College in Jackson.
  • Ms. Ruth Rimmer Morgan, 95, of Madison was called home to be with the Lord on May 09, 2017. Graveside services were held on May 12 at Montgomery Cemetery in Madison. Ruth was born on October 17, 1922 in Richland, MS. To W.J. & Hassie Shanks.

    She grew up in Richland, MS. where she attended and graduated High School. Ruth went on to attend Holmes Junior College. In Mrs. Ruth's earlier years', she was an Administrative Assistant for Dr. James Chustz for many years until retiring. She was an accomplished pianist and was the pianist in the early 1950's for the First Baptist Church of Madison.
  • Ann (Jackson) Lenz-Higbee (94), of Madison left this world to go to her Heavenly home on May 7, 2017.

    Ann was the youngest of three children born to Clemmie Keating Jackson and Elisha Andrew Jackson in Sardis MS on October 30, 1922.
  • Mary Nell Lutz Hansen, 93, a native of Canton died peacefully at her residence in Goldsboro NC, on Sunday, April 30th. Mary Nell was born on September 16, 1923 in Canton, MS. She is survived by her husband Charles (Chuck) Hansen; her children: Katherine Adolph (Peter) of New Bern, NC, Matthew E. Hansen (Mary O’Connor) of Milford, CT, James C. Hansen (Jean Nyquist) of Denver, CO,
  • Juanita Saunier Fortenberry, 89, of Canton  died on May 4, 2017. She was born on February 14, 1928, in Canton. Juanita was a homemaker most of her life. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canton. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, and was a member of the Good Samaritan Group in the 1980's
  • Glenn A. Sutton, 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.  Services were held April 30, 2017 at Lakewood Funeral Home. Mr. Sutton was born on January 18, 1930 in Denver, Colorado. He served in the United States Air Forces for 20 years and 5 months before retiring. He was a mechanic before retiring for good to enjoy life. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Erlene Myers Sutton; son, Larry Durell Shaw; great grandchildren, Denise Roberts and Kristopher Ryann Gillis; parents; and 11 siblings.
